The Tulsa Local News Initiative seeks a web producer to help deliver news to all Tulsans across a variety of digital platforms, including website, social media and newsletters, in ways that ensure residents can trust our news organization as a primary source of local news and information.
The web producer will work with local editors to manage editorial calendars, join story meetings and help brainstorm the best way to package and distribute assigned stories to their intended audiences. The web producer will contribute to efforts identifying republishable stories from partners that would be of interest to the Tulsa Local News Initiative’s audiences, and either directly republish them or develop summary content that makes them more accessible to our audiences. The web producer may also sometimes take dispatches from reporters in the field and develop spot news stories from the reporting that needs to be posted quickly.
The web producer will also manage the initiative’s publishing tools, including for its website, newsletters, and social media scheduling, ensuring that the newsroom is utilizing best digital audience practices, and that content is published up to standard and on time. They will work with newsroom and audience leadership to develop sustainable and efficient editorial processes, including everything from ideation to publishing and recirculation.
The Tulsa Local News Initiative is a yet-to-be named startup nonprofit organization that has raised nearly $14 million so far in service of a vision to give everyone in Tulsa the local news they need. The newsroom will produce high-quality accountability journalism while working directly with residents to produce and distribute community reporting, employing an innovative model for local journalism that is directly responsive to local information needs. In addition to a team of editors and beat reporters, the Tulsa newsroom will have best-in-class community engagement expertise, multimedia production, dedicated capacity for service journalism and research, and Tulsa Documenters.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $50,000-60,000 with a generous benefits package.
